Alessi has issued a new version of the iconic 9090 Coffee Maker that pays tribute to the genius of its creator Richard Sapper.

Alessi’s Espresso Coffee Maker 9090 has a special role in the company’s history: it is their first espresso coffee maker and the first object to win the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, and the first Alessi item in the permanent collection of MoMA in New York.

To increase heat dispersion, the red perforated handle is a detail that is as functional as it is aesthetically expressive. Richard Sapper used the color red to emphasize his designs’ mobile and intersecting elements, just like this particular handle which, in its movement, comprises an innovative closing system.
